Amy Garbark is an artist and maker who operates a studio (garbella) in Pittsburgh, PA. She has a BFA from Alfred University where she focused on alternative process photography. She is a fiber artist, printmaker, natural dyer and surface design enthusiast who loves learning new things. She creates wall art & quilted hangings using naturally dyed & botanically printed cyanotype images on fabric. Many of her pieces utilize colors and shapes that come directly from plants/flowers in her backyard garden, like indigo, coreopsis, & cosmos. She is inspired by daily walks, hikes and finding connections between materials, our humanity and nature. She has been designing and screenprinting work for her studio/small business for 15 years, but has been incorporating naturally dyed fiber pieces in her work for the last 6+ years. She teaches natural dye, basketry and cyanotype workshops in her own studio, craft schools, botanical gardens and museums.
